Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how you use the site. Cookies are not programs and cannot access other data on your device.
2. How We Use Cookies
EscrowPeer uses cookies for the following purposes:
| Cookie Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| PHPSESSID | Essential | Maintains your login session and CSRF security tokens | Session (deleted on browser close) |
| theme | Functional | Remembers your dark/light theme preference | 1 year |
| _csrf | Essential | Cross-site request forgery protection token | Session |
| remember_token | Functional | Keeps you logged in if "Remember me" is checked | 30 days |
3. Cookie Types Explained
Essential Cookies
These are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. They enable login sessions, security tokens, and core functionality. You cannot opt out of essential cookies as the site will not work without them.
Functional Cookies
These improve your experience by remembering your preferences, such as theme settings and login state. Disabling them means you may need to reset your preferences on each visit.
4. Third-Party Cookies
We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use cookies from Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar marketing platforms. Any third-party scripts (CDN-delivered CSS, JS libraries) may use local storage for caching purposes but do not track your identity across websites.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging in. Most browsers allow you to:
- View all cookies currently stored
- Delete specific or all cookies
- Block all cookies or cookies from specific sites
- Set preferences for future cookies
Browser-specific instructions are available at your browser's help documentation (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
6. Theme Preference (Local Storage)
In addition to cookies, we store your dark/light theme preference in your browser's local storage. This is not a cookie and is not transmitted to our servers. It persists until you clear your browser data.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as we introduce new features. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Continued use of the Platform implies acceptance of the current policy.
